A Critical Review of "Twacha Sharir" with Special Reference to "Twacha Roga"

Dr. O P Dwivedi, Dr. Ankita Upadhyay

Vol. 19, Issue 1, Jan-Jun 2025

Abstract:

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, offers profound insights into the intricate relationship between the body's structural components (Sharir) and the manifestation of diseases (Roga). Among these, "Twacha Sharir" (anatomy and physiology of the skin) holds significant importance, particularly when examining "Twacha Roga" (skin diseases). This article provides a critical review of the Ayurvedic concept of Twacha Sharir, analyzing its relevance in understanding the etiology, pathogenesis, and management of various Twacha Roga. It aims to bridge classical Ayurvedic principles with modern dermatological perspectives, highlighting areas of convergence and divergence, and suggesting avenues for further research.
