Abstract:
Background: Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA) is a rare, immune-mediated disorder involving the destruction of red blood cells by autoantibodies. Ayurveda interprets such blood disorders through the lens of Rakta Dushti, Pittaja Pandu, and underlying Ojokshaya. Objective: To evaluate and document a case of AIHA with its Ayurvedic diagnosis and management, correlating clinical findings with Ayurvedic pathophysiology and demonstrating clinical outcomes after integrative intervention. Case Presentation: A 42-year-old man complained of exertional dyspnea, pallor, and common feeling exhausted. Despite negative Coombs tests, investigations showed a cytoplasmic speckled ANA, severe anemia (Hb 6.4 g/dL), alongside a suggestive autoimmune etiology. Findings: Pittaja Dushti Janya Pandu with Rakta Dushti was the Ayurvedic diagnosis. Nitya virechan, shamana chitsha, Rasayana therapies, and Ojovardhaka interventions are all part of the management. Within the course of eight weeks, the patient's clinical symptoms and hematological labels improve. In conclusion, autoimmune blood disorders like AIHA can be successfully treated with Ayurvedic methodologies which promote Pitta Shamana, Rakta Prasadana, and Rasayana therapies.
